We are a small
rescue located in Southern California and
dedicated to the rescue and placement of our
dogs in furever homes, specializing in small
dog breeds (only). We dedicate
ourselves to specific small breeds and seldom
have a large quantity of dogs available for
adoption. We tend to
have more Chihuahuas and/or Chi mixes because
this is the largest volume of dog breeds
currently being put down at the shelters -
superseded only by the number of Pitbulls and Pittie mixes! Currently the State of
California is killing one companion pet at the
rate of 4 minutes and 32 seconds - there is
just not enough homes to go around for these
little ones.
We believe in
positive reinforcement training and techniques.
We do our very best to insure your new family
member is a perfect fit for your lifestyle.
We have over 25 years in rescue.
We are completely volunteer- and foster-based...
there are NO paid positions.
While the
dog probably came originally from an animal
shelter off of a kill list or was relinquished by their owner for
whatever reason, these small dogs live with us
and our families as they undergo
rehabilitation and get healthy. We
uncover behavior issues or lack of training,
remedy the issues that caused these dogs to
arrive in the shelter system and teach them
good canine behaviors so each placement will
be a 'furever' one. We advise new
adopters of any known issues that we are aware
of prior to adoption (medical, physical,
social, etc.). We have very few returns
because of the time we take prior to adoption
to make sure the dog will fit into your
lifestyle and family.
Our goal is
to save one dog at a time (and usually the
most needy), but to insure they have every
opportunity to never end up in the shelter
systems again because of a lack of training or
bad habits... hence the choice of our name -
for our little ones ARE tiny,
loving canines.
We, like all
rescue organizations, are limited by the dogs we can help
in direct relationship to the number of foster
homes we have. If you have it in your
heart to open up your home for a temporary
foster, please click on the

Each TLC
dog or puppy will:
- Be up-to-date
on their shots at time of adoption
- Be inoculated
against rabies and have the rabies
certificate in their adoption packet
-
Be micro-chipped AND the
registration activated; this will be
transferred over to the new adopter at
adoption
- Be spayed or
neutered with the sterilization certificate
included in their adoption packet
- Be licensed
for Ventura County and transferred to the
new owner if they are over 4 months old
- Have a
one-year paid subscription to
IDTag with their information and photo
pre-loaded
- Come with
a 50+ page adoption packet, complete with
copies of all necessary documents, medical
history, etc. Each TLC dog or puppy
will have an
adoption contract and copies of the signed
contract in the packet, suitable for use
with tax deduction purposes as a charitable
donation - Tiny Loving Canines, Inc. is a bonefide 501(c)3, registered with the IRS
and the State of California (#26-4639832).
- Receive a
PETCO "Think Adoption First" brochure which
contains valuable coupons for purchases in
any of their stores
- Have
post-adoption support - we are never but a
phone call or email away - this is all about
the dogs, not making profit or running a
business (unlike some rescues)~!!!
Our adoption
fees run between $100 and $400, depending upon
the age of the dog (puppies are on the higher
end whereas the older dogs are on the lower
end of the scale). When you adopt a
puppy, you are in essence saving more than one
dog for we put all of those monies (and
usually more) into the other dogs that have
been left behind at the shelters... your new
puppy is not only saved, but their adoption
fee pays for the much higher vets bills (i.e.
dentals, meds, blood panel tests, etc.) that
are needed for the older dogs to insure they
are as healthy as we can get them prior to
moving onto their furever home. In other
words, your adoption of a puppy 'pays it
forward' for older dogs to be saved...
We are also
part of the "Purina Pets For Seniors".
If you are a senior over 60, and there are
funds available at the time of the adoption,
you might be able to qualify for a $50
discount on the adoption donation of your dog.
Ask one of the volunteers for further
information on this program.
TLC accepts
cash, checks & credit cards for adoption donations via
PayPal
Not
ALL rescue organizations are alike - do your
research FIRST before adopting.
Not all rescue organizations provide rabies
shots, licensing nor activate and then
transfer the microchip information to the new
owner at time of adoption! We are the
only rescue organization in Ventura County to
supply all that we do!
