TLC Newsletter - June 23, 2010        Back to the newsletter page

SO many things have been going on in the past few months, it is extremely hard to keep up with them all.  We passed our 1st year anniversary at the beginning of this month and it was a real treat for us to have so many come by with their pooches to say "Howdy" the past few weeks.

P.A.P.A. and P.A.P.A.'s Flying Squadron: In the weeks since this organization began in May and a few rescues got behind the movement, over 100 dogs have left the Camarillo shelter and found their furever homes in Boston, Manhattan, Oregon, Washington and San Rafael, CA.  You might recognize our Snickers as the spokesperson for the Flying Squadron.  The Camarillo shelter is filled to the max every day - there are just too many dogs coming in and not enough being adopted out.  Transports out to parts of the country who don't have these small breeds is but a band-aid solution (and expensive), but it does free up a bit of space for the larger breed dogs which take longer to get adopted.  Please pass the word to friends and family that by shopping and not adopting, great dogs are having to die all the time in our nation's shelters.

ChinChin's Wheelie - You might have noticed our home page now has ChinChin listed as our featured pet.  We normally don't rescue this breed, but we could not let him die.  You can read his blog HERE and watch his progress... the next step is to get him a wheelie of his own, then get him up and mobile.  What a sweetie he is... He comes every Saturday to adoptions in the pink and black doggie stroller - not his color, but he never complains!

BabyLove (now known as "Viva"): Many people fell in love with BabyLove when we worked so hard to get her healthy... A few weeks ago her furever parents came by adoptions with her and it was SO rewarding to see her progress - she went from THIS in January to THIS six months later (scroll down to see her most recent photos)... This is the stuff that keeps us in rescue going...

Eros and Venus:  And now, following along behind BabyLove's legacy is Eros and Venus... CAUTION - graphic images when we first found them in a shelter (HERE) and this is the progress they have made HERE in about 2 weeks.  HERE is their blog and although they are about a month away from being able to go up for adoption, you might want to keep up with their progress along the way too!

Available dogs:  We always have more dogs that come into rescue - see the list HERE if you are thinking about adopting or know of someone thinking about adding a canine companion to their home and lifestyle.

Are you our next foster mom or dad?: All of the TLC dogs are fostered in our homes and the number of dogs we can save is in direct proportion to the number of foster moms and dads we have.  We are ALWAYS needing fosters and if this is something you have been considering for awhile, now is the time to step up and do it.  The summer months are coming and the number of dogs in the shelters sky rocket through this time of year.  We provide the medical care - you provide the love and TLC.  More on fostering HERE.

REMEMBER ALWAYS TO ADOPT AND NOT SHOP!  THE DOGS WILL THANK YOU FOR IT!

This is an opt-in newsletter, so you're free to come and go as you please.  We're hoping you'll be with us for a very long time.  Feel free to pass on our newsletters to other dog lovers... and encourage them to visit us as well!  If you like to suggest a topic or have a question, please contact us.  We'd LOVE to hear from you!
