We’d like to
extend congratulations to the new furever
parents of CocoChanel, Annie, Bingo and Trixi
– all have found awesome furever homes and we
thank you again for adopting from TLC and
saving a dog’s life! All
have entered the ‘Successful Hall of Fame’ –
see our website at

We have sad news
to report about Jayda however.
The leg is fractured midway between the
hip and knee. The leg can
be saved, but not without the public’s help
for the surgery procedure and costs will run
between $2,800 and $3,200.
For those that do not know about Jayda, she
was hit by an automobile, dumped at one of the
local shelters and sat there without medical
treatment for the fracture for two days,
delivered 4 puppies on June 28th
and TLC pulled her and the pups the first week
of July. We are currently
scrambling to find a way to make this right
for Jayda (we’ve collected $170 so far) - the
longer the surgery is delayed, the lower the
chances of her ever using that leg rapidly
diminish and it will have to be amputated (OH
NO!!!). For more details,
a look at her X-ray and to keep up with her
and the puppies’ story, see Jayda’s blog at
http://tlc-jayda.blogspot.com/
She’s such a sweet, SWEET girl – they
didn’t even need to sedate her yesterday for
the X-rays, if you can imagine!
We have established a fund to help
Jayda save her leg, so if you have a few extra
dollars to contribute, it would be GREATLY
appreciated!

New statistics from the California Department
of Health (CDPH) show shelter euthanasias
increasing again in 2008
July 3, 2009 - The CDPH this week released
preliminary statistics for the 61 California
jurisdictions that report under the Local
Rabies Control Activities (LRCA) regulation.
The statistics again show an increase in both
the number of animals entering California
municipal (city and county contracted)
shelters, and an increase in total number of
animals euthanized in those shelters.
Shelter euthanasia's rise 14% since 2004
According to
the CDPH, in the last 5 years the total
yearly number of dogs and cats entering
California municipal shelters increased from
729,238 to 788,446, an
8%
statewide increase. The total number of dogs
and cats euthanized in those shelters also
rose, from 378,445 in 2004 to 432,576, a
14%
statewide increase.
IF I DIDN'T HAVE A
DOG .......
~~~author unknown
I could walk around
the yard barefoot...... in safety.
My house could be carpeted instead of
tiled and laminated. All
flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars
would be free of hair.
When the doorbell
rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel turned
loose. When the doorbell
rings, I could get to the door without wading
through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.
I could sit on the
couch and my bed the way I wanted, without
taking into consideration how much space
several fur bodies would need to get
comfortable.
I would have money
and no guilt to go on a real vacation.
I would not be on a
first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I
put their yet unborn grand kids through
college.
The most used words
in my vocabulary would not be: out,
sit, down, come, no, stay,
and leave him/her/it ALONE. My
house would not be cordoned off into zones
with baby gates or
barriers.
I would not talk
'baby talk'. 'Eat your din din'.
'Yummy yummy for the tummy'..
My house would not look like a day care
center, toys everywhere. My
pockets would not contain things like poop
bags, treats and an extra leash. I would
no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L,
F-R-I-S-B-E- E, W-A-L-K,
T-R-E-A-T, B-I-K-E, G-O, R-I-D-E
I would not have as
many leaves (or pine needles) INSIDE
my house as outside.
I would not look
strangely at people who think having ONE
dog/cat ties them down too much.
I'd look forward to spring and the
rainy season instead of
dreading 'mud' season.
I would not have to
answer the question, 'Why do you have so many
animals?' from people who will never have the
joy in their lives of knowing they are loved
unconditionally by someone as close to an
angel as they will ever get.
How EMPTY my life
would be!!!
Finally, once
again, Tiny Loving Canines would like to THANK
YOU for adopting and not shopping – you are
truly one of the guardian angels these
sweeties deserved after going through the
shelter system!
REMEMBER ALWAYS
TO ADOPT AND NOT SHOP! THE
DOGS WILL THANK YOU FOR IT!
