TLC Newsletter 07/23/10        Back to the newsletter page

Free 5x7 Pet Photo  - Walgreen's in Simi Valley is offering a free 5x7 pet photo at their store on August 7th between 10AM and 2PM.  They are located at Sycamore Avenue & Cochran Street.  For more information, you can call (805) 426-3722.

Royal Canin - As a rescue, we strongly recommend Royal Canin simply because of the overwhelming results we have seen with dogs raised on this brand of premium dog food.  Not just luxurious coats and active, healthier dogs but without the excess fillers, less smelly poop from the other end as well!  If you too are using the brand of kibble, you can help TLC dogs by saving the proof of purchase bar codes.  As a rescue, for every 8 POPs we submit, we can receive one free bag of Royal Canine for the dogs.  What a deal - great kibble for your pooch and you are helping to feed a TLC dog that has not yet found their furever home.  You can either drop the POPs off at adoptions or mail them to us at 2828 Cochran, #215, Simi Valley, CA 93065.  THANK-YOU!  Speaking of Royal Canin, they have an awesome guide written especially for the Chihuahua - you can download the pdf file HERE ~~> Intelligent Nutrition for the Purebred Dog - Chihuahua (pdf).

The First Seven Days: Adopting a Rescue Dog:  This is a VERY informative eBook now available HERE ~~> The First Seven Days of Adopting a Rescue Dog (pdf)  Written by Dr. Susan Wright and Misty Weaver, it is a 107 pages of information designed specifically around the adoption process from day one to day seven.  EXCELLENT information everyone should read!

Annual Adopt-A-Thon:  The annual adoption event is coming up at the Camarillo shelter this Sunday (July 25th) - it should be a great event for all - CLICK HERE to see the flyer of the event!

Friends of Camarillo Dog Parks:  With the economy and down-sizing, many residents have been forced to move into smaller housing arrangements.  Dogs parks are a viable way for some people to keep their pets and still exercise them adequately enough.  If you are a Ventura County resident and support the petition to designate and construct several off leash dog parts in Camarillo, you can sign the petition individually (click HERE) or gather signatures (click HERE) - either form can then be faxed to us at (805) 578-2604 and we'll make sure to get it in the right hands so it is effective voice of the Ventura County residents' voices!

Is your pet's microchip information current and up-to-date?  Recently two TLC dogs found their way back home simply because of microchipping.  One dog went from his home in Moorpark and showed up at the West Valley Shelter in Chatsworth - the other was newly adopted and escape, picked up by our county's shelter staff.  As a rescue, we not only make sure every dog or puppy adopted has a microchip, we pay to activate the microchip in the new owner's name in the AVID database.  But once adopted, any changes in information in the AVID database needs to be updated by the owner (address, cell phone, email addy, medical needs, etc.).  Is your information up to date?  You can call and check - 1-800-336-AVID

REMEMBER ALWAYS TO ADOPT AND NOT SHOP!  THE DOGS WILL THANK YOU FOR IT!
