Myth
Exploded - 1 human year equals 7 dog years:
Dog breeds and their weights vary differently,
but in general, the smaller the dog, the
longer their life span is, the more puppies in
a litter, etc. Gone are the days when we
could guess at a dog's probable state of
health based upon the number of years (one
human year equals seven dog years). Based upon
this new research and your dog's breed and
weight, you might be surprised at just how
young (or old) Fido really is!

A bit
of humor: No offense
to Jeff Foxworthy and you "might be a redneck"
form of humor, BUT....
You might... And if you're still in
a humorous mood, you might enjoy some
Rogaine stories... My favorite one is "Whiddlin
Issues" but Rogaine gifted us with six
wonderful years until we lost him to
lymphosarcoma... Rogaine was the inspiration
for TLC in many ways -

Governor Sides with Puppy Mills, Vetoes AB
241: From Judie
Mancuso: Oct 11 - It’s with a heavy heart that
I report this news. Governor Schwarzenegger
vetoed Assemblyman Pedro Nava’s anti puppy
mill legislation, AB 241 the Responsible
Breeder Act, this afternoon.
Here is his veto message.
Shelter Pet Project: Too
many unwanted companion animals in our
shelters, not enough homes... sigh... The Ad
Council, Humane Society of United States and
Maddies Fund have joined together to find more
homes for these unwanted pet companions.
Asking just a few qualifying questions, you
can find all the available pets in your local
area from all of the local rescue
organizations. Don't forget to send an
'Adopt A Pet' gram while you're at their
website - it is a real "e-chuckle" for sure!

this upcoming Saturday between noon and 3PM at
PETCO in Moorpark, along with the other TLC
dogs up for adoption:

Howl-O-Ween at PETCO:
Saturday, October 24th - Photo Spooktacular at
1PM - get a photo of your costumed pet for
$3.95 while supplies last, starting at 1PM and
then at 2PM, the Pet & Parent Costume Contest.

October is Adopt-A-Dog Month:
Is one of your friends or family members
thinking about adopting a dog this month?
Refer them to TLC and if they adopt a dog
(puppies are exempt) during the month of
October and are able to supply your TLC
reference number (located in your adoption
packet), they will receive a special financial
incentive off of their adoption donation.
Remember, TLC is a nonprofit certified as such
with the IRS, so your donations are tax
deductions!
REMEMBER ALWAYS
TO ADOPT AND NOT SHOP! THE
DOGS WILL THANK YOU FOR IT!
This is an
