Care2's America's Favorite Shelter contest:
Help TLC win by voting for us... Even the
random drawing of $500 could save a LOT of
dogs from dying in our local shelters!!!
VOTE for TLC
Outdated Microchips: Animal
shelters say 80 percent of the microchips
implanted in pets contain outdated names and
addresses.
Report
Special note: If you adopted
through TLC, as part of our adoption process
we activated the microchip implanted in your
dog with your ownership information.
Simply implanting a microchip does not update
the information for an animal - without
activation, the microchip has as much value as
implanting a piece of rice between the
shoulder blades!
Mouth
to Muzzle: Most pet
owners would leap into action for an injured
pet, even if it meant risking dog breath by
going mouth-to-snout, but few are prepared.
Fifty-eight percent of pet owners — 63 percent
of dog owners and 53 percent of cat owners —
would be at least somewhat likely to perform
CPR on their pet in the event of a medical
emergency, according to an Associated Press-Petside.com
poll. Read the article
HERE and watch the demonstration on CPR
for your pet.
Latest
craze - teacup pigs:
Animal lovers are going hog wild over a new
breed of miniature pet. "Teacup" pigs
have became the latest trendy pet in England.
The little piggies weigh just over half a
pound at birth and only grow to 12 to 16
inches high, topping out at about 65 pounds -
rather svelte in the pig world.
Article Special Note: A
local rescuer of these says this craze is just
another marketing ploy - just like when
pot-bellied pigs became a hit and these
'small' pigs became HUGE and then dumped into
shelters.
One of
