Kelly was in bad shape when we found her in one of the local shelters - about 50% of her hair was gone, she was a bundle of nerves and was sitting in isolation, waiting to die.  Kelly's upper and lower canines had been surgically removed - a victim of the dog fighting industry and probably used as a bait dog.  Without the canines, Kelly cannot defend herself in the normal sense of a dog bite.  She eats well enough - just can't bite back when attacked by another dog.

All of Kelly's hair has now grown back in and with her chocolate coat, those amber eyes and the white snout, she's a picture of health now!  A great looking red-head, she'd made a good dog for a family, companion for a senior or company for a working couple.

Approximately 4 years old and now about 10 pounds, Kelly has put back all the weight she lost in the past and now has to work on the treadmill several times a week so she doesn't get too overweight!  Amazing what the 'good life' can be like, after the experiences she's had in her past!

Kelly walks well on halter and lead, is house-, doggie-door and crate trained.  Although she can have a lot of attitude with dogs that have one also, she gets along well with other small dogs.  She still has a great fear of Pitbulls however, and we don't recommend placing her in a home with dogs much larger than her. 

We suspect given half a chance, she'd prefer to sleep in bed with her foster parents, but she sleeps in a crate aside of her foster mom's bed at night without complaint.   She is no longer food aggressive and has learned most of the basic dog obedience commands now.  Kelly can 'couch-potato-out' with the best of them and seems to enjoy watching TV.  She's always alert and interested in what is going on around her, but not barky nor snarfy.  Her best bud at the foster mom's home is a 3.5, 12-year old Chi named "Scudderbutts".  See Kelly's blog HERE  for photos and more informatoin.

• Has a 1-year paid subscription to IDTag.com

• License, micro-chipped activation fee and IDTag subscription is transferred to the new adopting owner at time of adoption
