Yukon is
approximately 8 years old and he's been into the
vets already to have a dental done. His
mouth was in such bad shape, he had difficulty
eating and had to have 13 teeth removed at the
time. Although we caught it in time before
it affected his body in other ways, he will
always need to be on a diet of soft food mixed
in with moistened kibble now.
His blood panel tests revealed he is in great
shape now that his mouth is back in order
(Chihuahuas have a life span of 15-20 years if
taken care of, and if not allowed to become
overweight, most do live out their full life
spans). |

Yukon
" Yukon was given his name by one of the volunteers, who upon seeing him, was
instantly reminded of the stories like "Snow Dogs", "Dogs of the North", etc. so
"Yukon" it was! Deep chocolate to a muted rich brown, and then blending
snow white, Yukon is remarkably colored and uniquely marked from the tip of his
nose to the white tip at the end of his tail. The pictures we take of him
do Yukon no justice - you need to see him in person to appreciate the beautiful
coloring and great personality this little one has!
Yukon (or Yukie as he's been called sometimes) is a PETITE
size at 4 pounds (no small children, please!) and has a submissive demeanor,
prefers laps and snuggles without end. He's an undercover sleeper and has
already carved out a spot in the foster parents' bed at night. Not a
barker, he's a low maintenance kind of dog.

Despite the loss of
half of his teeth due to neglect, Yukon still enjoys
his Greenies and dehydrated chicken strips - just
takes him a bit longer to finish them off!
Yukon is now house-,
doggie-door, crate- and Xpen trained and absolutely
loves riding in the car! Yukon gets along well with
other dogs, but does not like cats and is friendly
towards all humans he meets... he'd make a perfect
companion dog for someone who has an average
lifestyle with moderate activity - he's up for a
walk or sitting aside of you, watching your favorite
show! In fact, walking is one of his favorite
things to do, although he is not a five-mile jogger
but instead a leisurely stroller.
